Melissa Hall |
Melissa Hall has spent all of her nearly ten
years since she graduated from Iowa State University in education. She
began her teaching career in Zamora, Mexico and has been teaching in Colorado
for six years. Melissa has sought the experience of working with students
of diverse backgrounds; she has teaching experience in urban, rural, and
suburban middle school settings. She is currently teaching Language Arts
and Social Studies on a 7th grade team in the Cherry Creek School District
outside of Denver, Colorado. Melissa’s experiences have defined her
role as a teacher in a high-energy classroom where student needs drive
instruction. For most of her career, Melissa has taught an integrated Language
Arts/Social Studies curriculum in a block schedule model, and has witnessed
how this type of instruction works for students.
Melissa holds a Master’s Degree in English in education from the
University of Colorado. The focus for much of her research is on the
essential elements of engaging instruction. She has received several
awards from her students over the years, recognizing her high-energy
approach to learning. Melissa is also extensively trained in “6
Trait Writing” and incorporates this approach into her Language
Arts classroom. Data-driven differentiated instruction has been a major
focus for Melissa as well. Melissa seeks to share with other educators
the fruits of her journey towards creating a classroom that is challenging
and joyful for all students. |
