Melissa Hall

      Melissa Hall has spent all of her nearly ten years since she graduated from Iowa State University in education. She began her teaching career in Zamora, Mexico and has been teaching in Colorado for six years. Melissa has sought the experience of working with students of diverse backgrounds; she has teaching experience in urban, rural, and suburban middle school settings. She is currently teaching Language Arts and Social Studies on a 7th grade team in the Cherry Creek School District outside of Denver, Colorado. Melissa’s experiences have defined her role as a teacher in a high-energy classroom where student needs drive instruction. For most of her career, Melissa has taught an integrated Language Arts/Social Studies curriculum in a block schedule model, and has witnessed how this type of instruction works for students.

      Melissa holds a Master’s Degree in English in education from the University of Colorado. The focus for much of her research is on the essential elements of engaging instruction. She has received several awards from her students over the years, recognizing her high-energy approach to learning. Melissa is also extensively trained in “6 Trait Writing” and incorporates this approach into her Language Arts classroom. Data-driven differentiated instruction has been a major focus for Melissa as well. Melissa seeks to share with other educators the fruits of her journey towards creating a classroom that is challenging and joyful for all students.
